Morgan County Schoolhouse Quilters Guild 2010 Fall Retreat

The Morgan County Schoolhouse Quilters Guild sponsored their Fall Retreat at Bradford Woods in Martinsville, Indiana on October 19th & 20th, 2010.  This year marked the fourth annual retreat.  Some friends of the Guild members traveled from Worthington and Cloverdale. More than twenty quilters attended and enjoyed discovering this year’s Mystery Quilt.  Bev Brown, a fellow MCSQG member, provided a clue before the retreat by giving yardage and color hues needed for the mystery quilt.  Bev also provided cutting directions so everyone would be able to start creating the mystery quilt once they arrived at the Retreat.  Quilters were also given the option to bring an unfinished project instead of working on the mystery quilt.  The majority of the people enjoyed working through the mystery and watching their quilts evolve.   At the end of the first day, one quilter finished piecing their top and uncovered the mystery.  The name of the mystery quilt was “Undercover in Houston X” by Debbie Caffrey.    She does a new mystery quilt design each year at the Houston International Quilt Show.  Her website is  She also has written books, including Power Cutting, Too and It’s Hip to be Square.   Of course by the end of day two, many quilts were far enough along for everyone to realize how the same pattern looks with a variety of color palates.  I hope you enjoy some of the pictures from this fun event.  I’m already looking forward to next year!
