2010 Martinsville Fall Foliage Festival Quilt Show

2010 Fall Foliage Festival Quilt ShowThe Martinsville Fall Foliage Festival held the 2010 Quilt Show at The Art Sanctuary in located in Martinsville, Indiana.  The sponsors for the Quilt Show included local businesses, Art Gallery & Framing, the Fall Foliage Festival, and The Art Sanctuary. 

The entry date for the show was October 4, with an entry fee of $3.00 for the first entry, with a maximum of $6.00 if more than one entry was made.  The show was open to any Morgan County and surrounding area county quilter. There were five categories for quilters to enter:  Pieced and Hand Quilted, Pieced and Machine Quilted, Appliquéd or Embroidered, Child’s Quilts and Miscellaneous/Wearable Items.  All work must have been completed between October 2007 and October 2010.  Judging began at 10:30a.m., on opening day. 
All quilts, with the owner’s permission, were on display through the month of October. 

People were also invited to enter Antique quilts for public display this year in order to develop an increased appreciation for the art of Quilting and its rich history.  

First, second and third place winners received monetary awards, while Best of Show was awarded the traditional Fall Foliage Festival Maple Leaf Plaque, which went to Dale Drake, a Morgan County Quilter and member of the Morgan County Schoolhouse Quilters Guild.  Dale has been the MCSQG historian for several years and her entry represented an excellent interpretation of an antique quilt.
